May Visual Analytics Updates
This month we are introducing some awesome upgrades to visual analytics. Dashboards now feature improved visualizations, more consistent naming, and faster load times. In addition to these upgrades, there are more significant updates you can learn more about below! All these improvements are automatically available for any customer using Cyberhaven Version 23.03 or later.
Introducing risk scoring
Dashboards now feature a “risk score” chart that helps you understand trends in the risk to your data.
How risk score is calculated
Risk score is calculated by summing the number of policy violations that occur in a time period, weighing the violations by both the sensitivity level of the data that was put at risk and the severity level of the policy that was violated.
The sensitivity level of a dataset and the severity of a policy are defined and can be modified in the Risks overview page of the Cyberhaven console. Policy violations that match an “Unrestricted” dataset or an “Informational” policy will have no impact on risk.
Currently, the impact a policy violation has on total risk score scales linearly with increases in sensitivity and severity.
How to interpret risk score
Unlike other products that score risk, Cyberhaven’s risk score isn’t an estimate of likelihood something risky will occur. Instead, risk score measures how much exposure of sensitive data has occurred across your organization.
If you notice your risk score spiked on a particular day, the right way to respond is to filter the dashboard to that specific day and dive deeper into which policies were violated, what data was put at risk, and if any particular users were responsible for the risky behavior. These insights can help you decide whether further action is warranted, like policy updates or employee follow-ups.
New Dashboards
This update also brings two new predefined dashboards to Cyberhaven!
Executive Risk Summary
The executive risk summary dashboard was built to give users a snapshot of their company’s insider risk and data exposure. The dashboard provides a trend of organizational risk using risk score, then dives deeper into 1) which policies are being violated 2) what types of sensitive data are being put at risk, and 3) the origins and destinations of sensitive data flow.
Generative AI Summary
The generative AI summary helps you tackle the growing risk of sensitive corporate data flowing to generative AI apps. Using a list of the most popular generative AI applications, this reveals what sensitive data is flowing to generative AI and which users are responsible. These insights will help you work with the appropriate business teams to safeguard your data while preserving productivity.
That's a summary of what's new. Be sure to reach out to the Cyberhaven team if you have any questions.
